THE THIRTEEN TECHNIQUES OF THE TRAVELING DRAGON SPEAR

The Traveling Dragon Thirteen-Technique Spear is so called because the movements of the spear are like those of a dragon and there are thirteen main techniques. As a dragon, the movements are flowing and graceful but powerful.
The thirteen techniques are
- ”huein” or circle
- :cheong: or spear
- ”sou” or sweep
- ”thiew” or flick
- ”yew” or wave
- ”phut” or brush
- ”ka” or “lift
- ”ha ma” or ground
- ”hui ma” or return-horse
- ”chak shun” or sideways
- ”phei shun” or slanting
- ”pai tau” or shake head
- ”khuen fa” or make flowers

Seven of the Thirteen Techniques
Sifu Anthony demonstrates the thirteen main techniques of this Spear Set. The first seven techniques are shown in this video clip. They are circle, spear, sweep, flick, cover, brush (or separate) and ground.

The Remaining Six Techniques
This video clip shows the six techniques, namely side, slant, lift, return-horse, shake-head and make flowers. Together with the seven techniques shown in the previous video, they make up the thirteen techniques of this spear set. Can you remember the difference between patterns and techniques?

Spear Set Part 1
Sifu Anthony Korahais demonstrates the complete spear set. This video clip shows the first part up to the pattern “Green Dragon Shoots Pearl” in Sequence 3. The technique implemented in this Green Dragon pattern is spear or shoot.
