How would you counter this formidable knee jab?

The Muay Thai knee jab is dread to many martial artists. Many of them do not know how to defeind against it. Such an attack is of course found in kungfu. Its attacking pattern is know in Shaolin as “Jade Girl Kicks Shuttle”, and as “Throw Knee at Chest” in Taijiquan. How would you counter such a formidable attack, especially when your neck and arm are being hooked?
